This FREE workshop is designed for contractors who have limited experience working and bidding on CDOT projects. The class will focus on the contract documents and how to understand the relationship between the bid items, plans and specifications. This will allow the contractor to better understand how to bid the work and know before going in to a project what will be expected of the contractor during the execution of the work. This is a great opportunity for subcontractors to prepare to work on the US 550/US 160 Connection South project, as well as many more upcoming CDOT projects in Region 5! Key Topics: - What are the parts of a CDOT contract? - The order of precedence for the documents - How the contract item number relates to the specifications and standard plans - Components of a specification - Difference between the plans, standard plans and detailed plans - Difference between Standard Specification, Standard Special Provisions and Project Special Provisions. - Importance of understanding the General Provisions. - Layout of a plan set and the tabulation sheets. - Understanding the Federal Aid specifications Presenter: Arthur Miller, PE is the CDOT Region 5 Resident Engineer located in Alamosa. He has 28 years of experience in transportation design and construction. He has 15 years transportation design experience in the private sector and 13 years experience in the public sector. For the past 9 years, Arthur has worked for CDOT and currently oversees the design and construction management team in Alamosa.
