Topic: Business Accounting and Budget

One of the biggest challenges in starting and running a small business is dealing with the finances. Most small business owners are not accountants, but still need to understand how much money they are bringing in and how that money is spent. This seminar will introduce you to QuickBooks Online, the most popular small business accounting software on the market, and show how it can help you manage your business and save time.

  • Session 1 (4/7) - This class will provide the instruction on how to set up and navigate QBO functionality. From workshop guide: Class Structure, Introductions, QB Online Intro, Subscribe & Create File, Set Up Wizard, Task Icons, Top Navigation Bar, Gear Icon, + Quick Create (+New), Left Pane Navigation, Search Function, Support, Expanded Functionality, and Q & A.

  • Session 2 (4/14) - This class will delve deeper into QBO functionality and we will begin to understand basic bookkeeping principles and how to perform tasks. From workshop guide: Class Structure, Q & A (from last class), Sales Center Overview, Expenses Center Overview, Chart of Accounts, Products and Services, Sales Tax Overview, Payroll Overview, Q & A.

  • Session 3 (4/21) - This class will expand on how to perform tasks in QBO as well as gain a detailed understanding of working with vendors and customers. From workshop guide: Class Structure, Q & A (from last class), Vendor Center, Customer Center, Transaction Attachments, Q & A.

  • Session 4 (4/28)- This class will teach participants how to connect their bank account to QBO, import transactions (including manual import if automatic feed doesn't work), begin entering transactions, reconcile, and run reports. From workshop guide: Class Structure, Q & A (from last class), Banking Center, Reports.

We encourage you to bring your laptop to the course to follow alongside the instructor. A sample file will be given out to the class so you can use this to follow along.

This course is offered as a hybrid format in-person and online. We have capacity for 15 participants in-person at the Innovation Center following COVID-19 safety protocols. We have room for additional participants online with new interactive technology that allows you to participate and interact live with the class.
