2020 has been a year of new focus, including a renewed concentration on anti-racism and what roles businesses have in the conversation. This session, open to anyone with a curiosity and interest, will provide guidance that businesses can leverage to communicate anti-racism messaging as part of their communication planning for customers, employees, and stakeholders.

Topics covered include: Defining Your Values, Optics vs. Action, and Communicating Your Business Values.

Whether you have issued a statement in response to racism or not, this session will give you both the tools and confidence to communicate knowledgeably about this important issue.

About the Presenter

Nikki Rashada McCord is the founder of McCord Consulting Group. Ms. McCord has been in the governmental affairs, business consulting, and board development fields for over a decade. She has had a notable career in the legislative field which began as the Senior Director of Communications & Legislative Affairs at Scofes & Associates Consulting, Inc. This powerful governmental affairs firm specialized in representing Fortune 500 companies in Michigan and Illinois. She was then asked by former Michigan Governor, Jennifer Granholm, to join her legislative team as the Legislative Advisor for the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality. Most recently, Ms. McCord has worked on educational and labor policy at the Colorado General Assembly, bringing her expertise and proven lobbying style to the West. She specializing in working with organizations specific to facilitation and training in the areas of diversity, equity, and inclusion, board of director governance, and strategic facilitation.

Ms. McCord earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Notre Dame where she also obtained a minor in Latin. She received her Masters of Public Policy at Michigan State University.

Nikki is a public speaker, educating audiences about board of director governance and organizational diversity. She has been a speaker at the following conferences: BevNet, ExpoWest, Alliance Management Institute, GlobalMindED, and the Rocky Mountain Philanthropy Institute.

Ms. McCord’s civic and professional board participation includes the Boulder Housing Partners Board and the Community Affairs Council of the Boulder Chamber. Ms. McCord is the past President of the Notre Dame Club of Denver and she is the Diversity Council Region West Director for the University of Notre Dame. She has been named a Boulder ‘Young Pro to Know’ by the Boulder Chamber of Commerce. Ms. McCord resides in Boulder, Colorado.
