Description:

Small businesses should be aware that they need internal controls to reduce the probabilities of the occurrence of internal fraud. Unfortunately, implementing these controls in a small business can be a challenging task. However with a bit of creativity, even those businesses with one employee can put controls in place to help prevent, detect and deter fraud.  This presentation is a group seminar designed to educate small business owners about the type of fraud that exists, how to put controls in place, and how to recognize frauds as they occur.  Several real life cases will also be discussed.

About Robyn:
Robyn is tired of seeing small businesses suffer because of fraud. She is a passionate fraud fighter and wants to share her knowledge to help small business owners avoid becoming victims of fraud.  

Robyn earned a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Western State Colorado University in Gunnison, Colorado. She has over 18 years of experience in accounting and auditing of private and public sector entities. Robyn holds the Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) credentials and received the Forensic Accounting Certificate from the AICPA. She is also a winner of the ACFE 2015 Distinguished Achievement Award.

Robyn is the current President of the Colorado Springs Chapter of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.  Their mission is to reduce the incidence of fraud and white-collar crime through education, training and service programs designed to assist their members and the business community with identification, apprehension, prosecution and deterrence of fraud. Their members promote an enhanced awareness of fraud and white-collar crime prevention techniques in Southern Colorado.
