[WEBINAR] Cyber CYA Series: NIST 800-171 Updates

Dec

2019
Wed 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM
Online
Facilitated by Pikes Peak SBDC
Topic: Cybersecurity

Description:

The deadline for companies to comply with the NIST SP 800-171 has long since passed (December 31, 2017). Many organizations are still struggling to interpret and understand what their obligations are. Some have stated that they are compliant under self-attestation so they don't risk losing current contracts with the government. In 2020 the government will mandate compliance through a third-party assessment so that organizations are able demonstrate they are meeting requirements. What can small to medium businesses do now to catch up?

This webinar will address the following areas:

  • NIST SP 800-171 Defined
  • Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) -- what it is and how it is determined.
  • Controls (what applies?)
  • Developing a plan
  • Addressing Risk
  • Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) 252.204-7012, "Safeguarding Covered Defense Information and Cyber Incident Reporting"

The presenter has extensive knowledge helping organizations in assessing, implementing and monitoring NIST SP 800-171 compliance programs. He has worked with large defense contracts and small businesses who provide products and services in the government supply chain. Learn strategies that you can apply to your business today from a SBDC Cyber Consultant!
