The Alphabet Soup About Certifications: DBE, ESB, WOSB, M/WBE, SDB…what should I choose? During this training you will understand the complex map of federal, state, local, and private certifications. You will also determine which agency and certification is the best for your business based on your target market, your product or service, and your location. · Federal Certifications through the Small Business Administration · CDOT certifications – DBE and ESB, their application, use and importance · City and County of Denver and RTD certifications · Private certifications and their application In addition, you will get a variety of tips about how to find opportunities, how to create a daily marketing routine to access various platforms, and access to the website where opportunities are posted. We will take you to a variety of free resources available to our Colorado small business community for proposal writing, estimating, marketing to government agencies, bonding, and more. Workshop objectives include: • Competitive landscapes • Relationship building - How networking events and social media can help your business growth • Storytelling (successful or not?) Leave this workshop understanding: • How small businesses fit into their niche • Having a strategy for weather or not to prime or sub on RFPs • Identifying opportunities including set-asides • How to find out what your competition is doing (websites, award postings, etc.) • When is your business successful?
