Join Intellectual Property Attorney Allison Olenginski to learn the basics of patents, trademarks, and copyrights. What does each protect? Why does it matter? How and when should you protect your intellectual property? And what kinds of IP-related issues might you need to think about as a start up or small business owner? We will discuss recent case examples - including the backcountry.com headline news story and learn how this trademark issue impacted small business owners across Colorado and the nation. Please come early to network and to ask questions. About our Speaker: Allison Olenginski is a partner with Larson & Anderson, LLC (https://himtnpatents.com/). Allison earned a bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, cum laude, from Case Western Reserve University in 2001. While at Case, Allison interned in the Musculoskeletal Mechanics and Materials Labs under Dr. Clare M. Rimnac, where she analyzed failed orthopaedic implants and fracture toughness of acrylic bone cement. After graduating from Case, Allison attended The University of Maryland School of Law, where she was selected for the student editorial board of The Business Lawyer. During law school, Allison completed an externship with the Cancer Branch of the Office of Technology Transfer at the National Institutes of Health where she reviewed invention disclosures, drafted licensing abstracts, and drafted and negotiated licensing agreements. She also participated in a clinical law program, counseling a variety of early stage high technology companies through the Maryland Intellectual Property Legal Resource Center. Before joining Larson & Anderson, LLC, Allison practiced in Washington, D.C. and Denver, CO. She became a partner of the firm in 2015.
