Legal Considerations for Starting a Business: Formation Fundamentals
What legal matters should you plan to work through in the process of starting a business? Many people start their business unaware of the legal decisions that must be made when establishing it and the potential liabilities that should be mitigated.
This course covers the fundamental issues you should consider, and steps involved in forming a business entity. Topics covered include what to consider when choosing an entity type, how a business entity can shield you from personal liability, what governing documents you need and what those documents should contain, how to procure an EIN, and basic tax considerations.
Meet Our Facilitator: William Edwards
We will be joined by Colorado attorney, William Edwards, to discuss what to know about the legal aspects of starting a business. Will is a business attorney with offices in Carbondale and Gunnison, Colorado. Will advises a wide range of business in his practice, including startups, family-owned businesses, and privately-held, mid-market businesses operating in multiple states. His practice focuses on business formation, contracts, M&A/transactions, real estate, and fractional general counsel services.
