Are the Small/Minority Business Certification Programs Right for Your Business?

The government is a huge, diverse market with many buying offices. If you’re eligible, obtaining small business certifications can give you access to more opportunities and provide a competitive advantage in bidding.

But... before you dive in and fill out multiple applications to get a whole alphabet soup of certifications such as SBE, M/WBE, DBE, EBE, ESB, VOSB, WOSB and more, you need to understand how the government buys and which agencies buy your specific products/services.

Not all government agencies and prime contractors care about all types of certifications. It's important to figure out which ones have opportunities that match your type of work and which certifications they care about before you get certified. This will save you a ton of time and allow you to leverage the certifications that will work for you.

What You'll Learn:

  • Does the government buy your products/services?
  • Is the local government your target market?
  • Are you a good candidate for DBE/MWBE/SBE certification?
  • Do you meet the requirements for DBE/MWBE/SBE certification?
  • What is the procurement function in Colorado?
  • How do the different certification programs work?
