Workshop Format
• Format: Highly interactive and focused discussion
• Time: 90-minute hands on workshop
• Participants: To maximize learning outcomes, the workshop should be limited to 30 participants.
Learning Outcomes
• Identify and recognize the five motivations for working.
• Uncover the sources of motivation for each direct-report.
• Develop a unique action plan for increasing the motivation of each direct-report.

Presenter Info:
Dr James A. Keaten is now Professor Emeritus at UNC and Adjunct Professor of Business, teaching classes in Organizational Behavior and Leadership for the Monfort College of Business at UNC. Previously he served as Chair and the A.M. & Jo Winchester Distinguished Professor at the University of Northern Colorado. Prior to that Jim served as Associate Dean for the College of Humanities and Social Science. He taught undergraduate and graduate courses in leadership, quantitative research methodology, and organizational communication. He earned both his master’s and Ph.D. degrees in Communication and Statistics from Penn State University. He completed his post-doctoral work in intercultural studies at Harvard University.
Throughout his career, James has earned numerous research and teaching awards, including the A.M. and Jo Winchester Distinguished Scholar, Professor of the Year, and College Scholar of Humanities and Social Sciences. His research has been published in numerous scholarly journals, including Journal of International and Intercultural Communication, International Journal of Intercultural Relations, and Japanese Psychological Research. He has published over forty juried publications and presented over one-hundred papers, panels, and keynotes at academic conferences during his tenure at UNC.
James has served as international consultant for the customer support industries globally, including Japan, Korea, India, Central America, and the Philippines. He has a successful three-decade history in business consulting, covering such topics as leadership development, psychometric analysis, instrument development, and strategic planning. He is a recipient of the Frost and Sullivan award for Competitive Strategy, Innovation, and Leadership while serving as Chief Science Officer for StarTek.
