Longmont Startup Week: Innovation Research Grants

This session will cover Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grants as well as Colorado Advanced Industries Grants. The Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program is a highly competitive program that encourages domestic small businesses to engage in Federal Research/Research and Development that has the potential for commercialization. The Advanced Industries Export Grant is a Colorado financial assistance program for aspiring and current exporters in Colorado's Advanced Industries (Aerospace, Bioscience, Electronics, Energy and Natural Resources, Infrastructure Engineering, Technology and Information and Advanced Manufacturing). Participants will go away learning the requirements and process for applying for each type of grant as well as tips to increase the chance of award and possible errors to avoid when applying. This session is most appropriate for existing and early stage businesses.

After holding contract management positions in both government and private industry, Stephanie founded Arrowhead with the goal of providing companies with the extra knowledge and manpower they need to succeed in the world of government contracting. Specializing in business development, proposal preparation, contract management, subcontracts, accounting and compliance, Arrowhead provides as needed, expert support to government contractors. Arrowhead is headquartered in Boulder, Colorado. Ms. Amend is the President Elect for the Denver Chapter of the National Contract Management Association Board of Directors and possesses a B.S.A and an MBA. In her free time, she competes in ultra marathons and endurance mountain biking races. Katie Woslager Office of Economic Development and International Trade Advanced Industries Senior Grant Manager As Senior Grant Manager, Katie works directly with early stage and start-up companies, Colorado Research Institution Technology Transfer Offices, and Advanced Industry stakeholders. She oversees all Early Stage Capital and Retention Grants, Proof of Concept Grants and Infrastructure Grant contracts. Katie joined the Office of Economic Development and International Trade in 2013. Prior to this, she spent seven years with the Utah Division of Arts and Museums where she oversaw grants and contracts for various nonprofit arts and cultural organizations in Salt Lake City, Utah.
