Presenter Bios: Yoriko Morita is Founder and President of Patents Integrated, based in Louisville, CO. After earning her Ph.D. in electrical engineering, Yoriko left her life in the lab and combined her science and technology background with her business side. Since 1996, she has been creating and commercializing patent portfolios by combining her Ph.D. and MBA with the legal training she earned under the tutelage of a group of highly regarded Patent Attorneys at the Pritzkau Patent Group. Yoriko is a Registered US Patent Agent and Certified Licensing Professional (CLP). Part psychoanalyst...part secret agent...part corporate warrior. In the world of intellectual property law, Yoriko has built alliances and bridged the gap between organizations and negotiated contracts that have generated millions in revenue. After forming her own IP consulting company in 2014, Soumei Consulting, Yoriko put a variety of clients on a concrete and strategic road to commercialization. Her specialties include intellectual property (IP), patent licensing, IP strategy, patent portfolio management, IP law, patent prosecution, standard-essential patents, due diligence and patent standards. Shireen Marshall, Ph.D., J.D. is the founder of Elevated IP, LLC. She counsels a wide range of clients with respect to Intellectual Property law matters relating to patent, trademark and copyright issues. Shireen helps clients evaluate IP ownership opportunities, procure domestic and foreign rights, and monitor and address potentially infringing uses by others. She specializes in domestic and foreign patent and trademark procurement, portfolio management, and IP landscape and comparative product assessments. She has more than a dozen years of experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications in the areas of chemistry, materials science, nanotechnology, instrumentation, wearable devices, semiconductors, biofuels, solar technologies, mechanical devices and sporting goods. Shireen also helps her clients brand and trademark their products and services by advising on the strength and registerability of proposed marks and by working to procure domestic and foreign trademark rights. In the area of copyright law, Shireen counsels businesses, artists, models and athletes with respect to copyright ownership, model releases, sponsorship agreements, work for hire agreements, and fair use.
