THIS WORKSHOP HAS BEEN POSTPONED TO TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 13TH, 2018. Businesses today are in the best position in history to survive outages, disasters, and attacks to their operations. And make no mistake β€” there are disasters to be had! In the last 5 years, we have seen fires and floods destroying thousands of homes, businesses, and buildings. Disasters are striking more frequently, and weather is not even the biggest threat! Having a business continuity plan is a competitive advantage. If a disaster affects your area and you are one of the few businesses with BC plan, who will be open for business when emergency is over? You will, and perhaps few others. And if a disaster strikes only your business β€” like a simple sprinkler malfunction β€” do you know what you need to do to get back in business before your customers are aware anything is wrong?

Speaker(s): Tim Singleton, Strive Technology Consulting

Co-Sponsor(s): City of Boulder

The Good News: The age of the Internet has given us the unprecedented ability to recover businesses operations after an emergency. The Bad News: Despite having access to these resources, few businesses are using them properly, if at all. 75% of small businesses don't have a business continuity plan, knowing full well it would take AT LEAST THREE MONTHS to recover from a disaster.* The Boulder SBDC is hosting a series of workshops on Business Continuity for Small Businesses. We are fortunate to have Tim Singleton, owner of Strive Technology Consulting, presenting our first workshop in an ongoing Business Continuity series for small businesses. Tim has worked in the computer and technology industry since 1999, doing everything from entry level help desk work to designing business networks and advising large IT organizations. He currently owns and operates Strive Technology Consulting, a managed IT services firm in Boulder that provides enterprise-class support and guidance to small businesses. Join Tim for a workshop on IT Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery; your IT plan is a critical part of your overall Business Continuity! In this workshop you will learn: 1) What types of disasters to plan for. Hint: it’s a lot more than just bad weather 2) How to know whether your backups are sufficient to get you back into business if you have to deal with a major data loss 3) How plan a rock-solid data security strategy for your business 4) How to get your business up and running fast after a disaster, and even how to keep it running during a disaster 5) How to keep hackers from stealing your data and wreaking havoc in your business You will also walk away with your own Small Business Continuity Checklist that you can implement at your own business right away, and have the opportunity to schedule a FREE consulting session for further support.
