There is a requirement by the federal government to have contractors and other organizations that develop products, provide services or manufacture parts as part of the Department of Defense (DoD) supply chain to protect any sensitive information related to their work. In 2019, DoD made it a requirement to adhere to a specific framework called the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC), demonstrating a specific cyber hygiene at various levels ranging from 1-5. This initial framework is referred to as the CMMC version 1.x.

There were many concerns regarding the amount of rigor, time and cost associated with achieving certification. This required a program review which was conducted and coincided with a congressional mandate. Some initial outcomes of the review, which is ongoing, included a less rigorous approach. The new CMMC 2.0 replaced the previous version at the end of 2021 and now has three levels of maturity. Once CMMC 2.0 is codified through rulemaking, the DoD will require companies to adhere to the revised CMMC framework according to requirements set forth in regulation.

During this webinar, presenter Shawn Murray of Murray Security Services will cover the highlights of the CMMC program and what the new CMMC 2.0 requirements are for those looking to demonstrate a sound cyber hygiene in order to qualify for work on government contracts. The webinar will end with a Q&A session.
